Research studies confirm what mamas tell us about their prenatal massages - relaxation has numerous benefits to both birthing persons and babies in utero. Some benefits include improving the outcomes for mamas and babies with fewer hospital admissions, reducing prenatal, birth and postpartum complications including reducing Cesarean births, normalizing baby’s heart rate and motor activity, and promoting longer gestations and higher birth weight. Our specially trained massage therapists key into the specific needs and extra comfort measures that can help pregnant people feel better both in the moment on the table and as they go about their days in the outside world. Our hydraulic salon back massage therapy table allows mamas to be in the safest semi-reclined and side lying positions for their massages, especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

Our massage therapists have extensive training and experience in prenatal and postnatal massage to promote healing after vaginal or Cesarean birth and relieve muscle tension and pain after labor and birth. Postnatal massage may also reduce uterine afterpains and expedite uterine involution, as well as relieve your breast tenderness and pain associated with lactation and breastfeeding. It also promotes structural realignment of your spine, organs and pelvis for optimal pain free movement now and in the years to come.

Pulling from a variety of modalities, we weave together a session just for you. Whether you are looking to relax or manage pain (or both!), our massage therapists can work with you to meet your goals.

This relaxing and gentle external massage to your abdomen and back normalizes blood, lymph, nerve, and energy flow through the core of the body while inviting the “tipped” or prolapsing uterus back to its normal, happier midline position in the pelvis.

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic full body massage in which warm oil is deliberately and rhythmically applied from the top of your head all the way down to the soles of your feet. The Sanskrit word for oil is “sneha” which is a term also used to describe love or tenderness- so in many ways receiving an Abhyanga massage is like wrapping and anointing your entire body in love. This treatment is intended to affect the skin, lymphatic, and circulatory systems as opposed to the muscular tissue targeted in other types of massage, therefore the pressure is light and the focus is on the rhythm and choreography of applying the warm oil. Abhyanga has been said to contribute to improved circulation, improved lymphatic drainage, improved skin health and appearance, and regulation of the nervous system. Abhyanga is a gentle and nourishing treatment for postpartum healing, but is also beneficial and supportive for anyone.
