Research Assistant(s)

Project Summary: Sanctuary Doulas + Family Care, in partnership with our sister non-profit organization, The Abundance Project, received a grant prize from The National Institutes of Health’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) as a part of the IMPROVE Initiative to study the preliminary efficacy and acceptability of postpartum doula care in reducing BIPOC mothers’ depression, anxiety and blood pressure. We’re also looking at the effectiveness and acceptability of postpartum doula care as an intervention to support overall health outcomes. We submitted the preliminary findings in a report as a part of the initiative in June and in September we received additional funding to continue to carry out the study. This phase of our study is anticipated to be active from October 2024 - April 2025.

Role Description: We’re looking for English and Spanish-speaking Research Assistants (RAs) in various areas around the Denver metro area who will travel to participants’ homes to carry out study assessment visits (take participants blood pressure using an automated machine, instruct them to fill out several forms). The commitment is 2-4 hours per week and compensation is $25 per hour for both drive time and time during the visits. RAs will use their own vehicle, and mileage from the RAs home to the participants’ home will be tracked and paid at the IRS rate of .70 per mile. Generally travel will be less than 20-30 miles in one direction.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English OR Spanish, both written and spoken.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in research software and tools, or a strong ability to learn new software.

Commitment: Roughly 2-4 hours per week, including drive time.

Compensation: $25 per hour. RA will be paid as an Independent Contractor (1099).
