Katherine Bennett
Katherine has two Master’s from Naropa University, one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (with a concentration in transpersonal wilderness therapy) and one in Religious Studies (with a concentration in Indian spiritual traditions and Sanskrit). She is a postpartum doula, therapist, ritualist, and ceremonialist with specialized training in perinatal mental health, child-centered play therapy, and somatic-concentric sex therapy. Her diverse background—including active duty military service, extensive travels in Asia, and over a decade of experience as a registered yoga teacher (RYT® 500)—informs her unique approach to mental health counseling.
Her aspiration is to create a therapeutic journey that transforms the postpartum experience into a deeply meaningful life transition, empowering parents to find their unique path while honoring the challenges, joys, and transformation it entails. Katherine’s therapeutic interests encompass mindfulness practices, nature-based therapy, narrative therapy, ritual, ceremony, rites of passage, and mythopoetics. Her work at Sanctuary Doulas is characterized by a holistic and transpersonal approach to empowering and supporting her clients, deeply informed by her diverse experiences and extensive training. Beyond her counseling role, Katherine finds joy in activities such as yoga, solo backpacking, dancing, reading, and writing poetry.
