Questions to Ask When Interviewing Sanctuary Birth Doulas

Finding the right support team for your birth is so important! When interviewing birth doulas, it can be helpful to have a list of questions. Here are some of our favorites to find the right fit:

• Are you on call for any other births in my on-call window?

• What is your birth philosophy?

• What is your style of support?

• How do you support partners during labor?

• At what point do you join me during labor? What does virtual support look like before then (text/call etc?)

• What is your experience at hospital XX?

• What comfort measures do you suggest? Do you have preferred comfort measures that you have seen success with?

• What is your experience with high-risk, twins, c-section etc births?

• Tell me a little about your backup. Explain how the backup will work?
